Movie Flyer with letter Katharin Hepburn The VERY
RARE Letter sent to Mr. Metzger in Tyndal, S. Dak. on March 19, 1934. It
is from Ned E. Depinet the President of RKO Distributing Corporation RKO
Building Radio City Rockefeller Center New York.
In his letter Mr Depinet says:
Dear Mr. Metzget,
Katharine Hepburn is again riding on a tremedous wave of publicity and popularity due to her inspiring and powerful performance in our Easter release, "SPITFIRE".
Magazines and newspapers everywhere are making HEPBURN a household word.
What an appropriate time for you to play this great star in "CHRISTOPHER STRONG" and "A BILL OF DIVORCEMENT", two splendid pictures which I am advised have never been shown at your theatre. Jules Levy, our general sales manager, tells me that he has written you twice about these attractions, giving you full details, but still no "get together" with you as far as I know.
Take my word for it that you can do a fine business with them. Won't you please indicate your desire on the enclosed card, or write me a personal letter telling me the reason you hesitate to book them? Thanking you, and with best wishes, I remain,
Sincerely your, Ned E. Depinet.
The letter which is part of the flyer for Hepburns movie is folded over the back of the flyer and is a part of the original paper that the flyer was printed on. Mr. Depinet has personally autographed it.
On the front side of this flyer is the advertisement for this Movie of Hepburn titled CHRISTOPHER STRONG. Katharine Hepburn stars with Colin Clive, Billie Burke, Ralph Forbes, Helen Chandler, and Irene Brown. The movie is directed by Dorothy Arzner from a screen play by Zoe Akins....from the novel by Gilbert Franklin....David O. Selznick, Executive Producer.
This is a VERY RARE item and since it was personally directed to Mr. Ed. Metzger who owned the Cozy Theatre in Tyndall S. Dakota from the President of RKO Pictures it is also a one of a kind item.
It is guaranteed authentic by the seller. I know where this piece came from having bougth a large collection of paper related collectibles from a friend who personally bought these from the Theatre in Tyndal S. Dakota many years ago now. This piece is just one piece of many items from this Theatre.
To the winner of this bid will go an extra as a gift. I will send the winner of this auction 10 tickets from the Cozy Theatre and they could be framed with this item to make a very nice one of a kind display.
This item at one time in history past had a paper clip on it and there is slight rust in the area where this clip was but it does not distract for the interest or collectiblity of this VERY RARE Piece!

measures 8-1/4"X11". The front and back of the card are glossy
heavy card stock. On the front we read: Perfect Witness Brian Dennehy,
Stockard Channing, and Aidan Quinn. If he keeps quiet the DA will send
him to jail. If he talks the mob will send him to the morgue,
On the reverse it says: Perfect Witness casts Aidan Quinn as Sam Paxton, a restaurant owner In New York City's wholesale meat district. Sam's an everyday family man who is in Costello's Bar late one night when he witnesses a cold blooded murder. Eyewitenss Paxton tells the police what he's seen --- and then discovers that what he saw was a mob robout
The case is investigated by high-powered U.S. Attorney James Falcon (Brian Dennehy) and his colleague, attorney Liz Sapperstein (Stockard Channing), who also wants to expose a payoff scandal in the meat markets. Falcon and Sapperstein pressure Paxton to testify about the murder in front of a grand jury. He could, after all, be the perfect witness.
When Paxton's house is ransacked, his wife Jeannie (Laura Harrington) and 9 year old son Danny (Nial Lancaster) go into hiding and stay with Jeanie's sister. On a mission to expose corruption at any cost, Falcon guarantees Paxton full protection, by Paxton is nervous about the mob connections. Sapperstein is equally concerned about Falcon's ambitious thirst for justice.
After young Danny is beaten up by thugs one night while bar owner Costello (Ken Pogue) shuts his doors to the scene, Falcon suggests that Paxton join the Witness Protection and Relocation Program.
Horrified by what happened to his son Paxton tells Falcon that from now on, he's going to worry about his own family. Paxton refuses to testify in front of the grand jury adn is sent to prison. In the meat markets district, a confrontation with Costello and his mob contcts is planned, with devastating results. Falcon decides to go ahead and try to casae but nees Paxton's testimony. So Paxton is released from prison and goes head-to-head with Falcon, forcing both men to come to terms with their ethics.
